The Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) proudly concluded its Centenary Jubilee Celebration, commemorating 100 years of faith, service, and spiritual legacy. Held over two days under the theme “Alhokupuju lo pükhükulu (Faithful through the Ages),” the event highlighted the church’s enduring commitment to worship, mission, and community service.

The final day featured a devotional programme led by Dr L Botoholi Yeptho, Associate Pastor, including a rich mix of worship, cultural performances, and traditional Sumi folk songs like Thishole, representing the rhythmic labor of pounding rice. Special musical performances by the Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima (SABCK) and the SBCK Centenary Choir added vibrancy to the celebration.

Distinguished guests, including Rev Dr Mar Pongener, General Secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council, and Rev Devanand Kadariya, General Secretary of Nepal Baptist Church Council, graced the occasion. Rev Kughato K. Chophi delivered messages emphasizing the church’s faith legacy and ongoing mission to serve God and the community.

Evening services led by Kahoni Shikhu and messages from Pastor Khekavi K Yeptho reinforced SBCK’s dedication to spiritual growth, evangelism, peace-making, and inclusive membership.

Associate Pastor Lujeka Assumi highlighted that the centenary celebration not only honored SBCK’s historical journey from the Daklane settlement to modern times, but also reaffirmed its role as a pillar of unity, faith, and service in Kohima.

The church’s centenary marks a significant milestone, inspiring members to carry forward the torch of faith into the next century.
