Air India Chairman Breaks Silence After Crash, Says Aircraft Had ‘Clean History’

Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has stated that the Boeing Dreamliner involved in last week’s tragic crash in Ahmedabad had a “clean history” with no previous issues. He also confirmed that both engines were recently serviced, pushing back against widespread speculation surrounding the cause of the incident.

Chandrasekaran, who also heads the airline’s parent company Tata Group, addressed the media through an interview with The Economic Times, where he called for patience as official investigations continue.

“There are speculations about human error, airline faults, engine problems, and maintenance,” he said. “But as far as we know, the specific aircraft — tail number AI-171 — had a clean and well-maintained record.”

Investigation May Take a Month

The preliminary findings of the crash investigation are expected to take about a month, Chandrasekaran added. He urged the public and media to avoid jumping to conclusions until facts are confirmed.

Focus on Facts, Not Rumors

While concerns about pilot error, technical faults, or airline procedures have been raised, Chandrasekaran emphasized that these are currently just rumors. He assured that Air India is cooperating fully with aviation authorities to uncover the truth behind the crash.
